Heart of Hearts Gala
Save the date for this year's Heart of Hearts Gala on November 13, 2014!
The 33rd annual Heart of Hearts Gala was held on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Proceeds from the annual gala benefited the breast care centers at: Avista Adventist Hospital, Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Littleton Adventist Hospital, Parker Adventist Hospital and Porter Adventist Hospital. Guests enjoyed bidding on one-of-a-kind items during the silent auction and musical entertainment by adbacadabra - the ultimate ABBA tribute! Click here to view photos from the gala.
Close to 500 attended the gala to support for breast cancer care. It gave many a chance to share with one another how breast cancer has impacted their lives personally whether through a friend or family member. Upon arrival, women were given a beautiful pink ribbon charmed bracelet and the men a pink ribbon lapel pin. At the dinner tables were various candy bars from the 70s, as well as ear phones provided by Diversified Radiology.
Impersonator Derek Evilsizor serenaded the crowd with Frank Sinatra hits during the social hour. Attendees bid on silent auction items, played video arcade games, captured pictures with friends in the photo booth. While entering the ballroom for dinner, adbacadabra performed a tribute of ABBA hits throughout dinner and concluded the evening with a concert. Thank you to the Hewit Foundation for sponsoring our entertainment!
This year we honored Dr. Douglas and Debbie Dennis for their generosity to our foundations as well as to the community by presenting them with the Henry M. Porter Award. The Adventist Hospitals of Colorado give the Henry M. Porter Award out annually at the Heart of Hearts Gala. This award is given to honor Henry M. Porter the original philanthropic donor to Porter Hospital. Because of his generosity, Porter Adventist Hospital paved the way for more Adventist Hospitals to be established and become healthcare leaders in the Denver Metro area. The award is given to someone who has helped one of the Adventist Hospitals grow either through leadership and/or philanthropy. A recipient of the award may also include consideration of someone who has benefited significantly from care at one of the Adventist Hospitals in the Denver Metro area, and, as a result, have given back through leadership and/or philanthropy.
We were blessed to receive $47,000 from the paddle raiser that evening and were amazed at the generosity of those who understand the importance of providing the best care we can for breast cancer patients and families. Please take a moment to watch the video shown that evening about our breast care centers at our hospitals.
